Privacy Policy
This policy explains how MZ Adnova Tech LLC, which operates under the MZ Adnova Tech brand (“MZ Adnova Tech”, “we”, “us”), handles information in the Buffet Bar Caller app for iPhone and iPad (the “app”), also sold as Bar Order Caller.
The app is a business tool for buffet restaurants. Hot-bar staff tap a dish to call a refill, the matching kitchen station sees and hears the order, and a freshness timer tracks how long each dish has been out.
Restaurant data stays in the restaurant’s own iCloud
Everything a restaurant sets up and records in the app – sections, dish names and photos, live orders, freshness timers, call history, and the store name, logo and contact details – is stored on the device and in the private iCloud (CloudKit) database of the Apple Account signed in on the restaurant’s devices. That is how the restaurant’s iPads and iPhones stay in sync. This data is not sent to MZ Adnova Tech and we cannot access it. Information we do receive
- Member account – if you create or sign in to an mzadnova.com member account from the app, we receive your name (or restaurant name), email address and password. Passwords are sent over an encrypted connection and stored on our server only as salted hashes. On the device, the password is kept in the iOS Keychain.
- Activation – the app sends its activation code to our server to confirm that the subscription is active.
- Subscription and payment – subscriptions are paid through Square, our payment processor. Card details are entered on a secure Square form and go directly to Square; we never receive or store full card numbers. We keep subscription status and payment records such as amount, date, card brand and last four digits.
Permissions the app asks for
- Location (while using the app) – iOS requires this permission before an app can read the name of the connected Wi-Fi network. The app uses it only to show that network name on the home screen. Your location is never stored and never leaves the device.
- Photos – you can choose photos for dishes and for the store logo with the system photo picker. The app receives only the photos you select, and they are stored in the restaurant’s iCloud as described above.
The app does not use advertising, analytics or tracking tools, does not collect device or advertising identifiers, and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Spoken order announcements are generated on the device.
How we use information
We use account, activation and subscription information only to provide the service: to activate the app, manage your subscription, provide support and send service-related email such as receipts and password resets. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf – Cloudflare, which hosts our website and server, and Square, which processes payments – or when the law requires it.
Retention and your choices
We keep account and subscription records for as long as the account is open and as needed for tax and accounting requirements. You can cancel a subscription from the member area at mzadnova.com. To access, correct or delete your account information, contact us using the details below. Restaurant data in iCloud is under the restaurant’s control and can be removed by deleting it in the app or from the restaurant’s iCloud storage.
Children
The app is a workplace tool for restaurant staff and is not directed to children.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the updated version on this page and revise the effective date above.
